Why convert HEIC to JPG?

JPG is the one image format that every computer, phone, website, printer kiosk and email client understands. HEIC saves space on your iPhone, but the moment a photo leaves Apple's ecosystem it often turns into a file that won't preview: Windows asks you to buy an extension, older Android phones show a blank icon, and many upload forms for passports, job portals or online stores simply reject it. Converting to JPG gives up a little file size in exchange for a photo that opens everywhere, every time.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Tap “Choose photos” or drag your .heic / .heif files onto the box. You can add dozens at once.
  2. Pick a quality. 85 is visually identical to the original for nearly every photo; go to 92+ if you plan to print or edit further.
  3. Optionally shrink large photos and decide whether to keep or remove GPS location.
  4. Download each JPG, grab them all as a ZIP, or on iPhone tap “Save / Share” to put them straight into Photos.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting HEIC to JPG lower the quality?

JPG and HEIC are both lossy, so a conversion is one extra round of compression. At quality 85 or higher the difference is not visible on screen. The JPG will usually be 1.5 to 2 times larger than the HEIC, because JPG is an older and less efficient codec — that's the trade for universal compatibility.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The converter loads a small decoding engine into your browser and does all the work on your device. You can check it yourself: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while converting, and you'll see no image data leaves the page.

Does the JPG keep the date the photo was taken?

Yes. Camera details and the original capture date are copied into the JPG's EXIF data, so Photos, Google Photos and Lightroom will sort it correctly. GPS location is removed by default; untick the option if you want to keep it.

Why do my iPhone photos come out sideways in other converters?

iPhones store rotation as a separate instruction instead of turning the pixels. Some tools ignore that instruction. This converter applies the rotation before saving, so the JPG is upright in every app.

Can I stop my iPhone from taking HEIC photos in the first place?

Yes: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. Your camera will then shoot JPG, but each photo will take roughly twice the storage. Many people keep HEIC on the phone and convert only the photos they share.

Is there a limit on how many photos I can convert?

There's no fixed limit. Because conversion uses your device's memory, very large batches on older phones are best done in groups of 50 or so.
